Interesting developments - so

Purple + Purple / Grigger || Purple => (sometimes) Monarch
Monarch + Monarch / Purple => (sometimes) Pond
Pond + Pond / Purple => (sometimes) Bombardier / Goliath

So - using low tier beetles (purples) you can smash them into higher tier beetles.

Also it seems like the highest tier of beetle that a tin hammer (default hammer) can smash is a pond beetle.

Most of my blue flowers - I've been combining flowers - you should get lots of green tier flowers. SMASH two of those together to get a yellow you can SMASH two yellows together to get a blue and SMASH two blues together to get a red. You can also do the cattail upgrade path which is more secure but I'm not sure how it works after you get mithril pollen.

I believe the meta is this:

Green Flowers can be upgraded by smashing them together. This should be true for all flowers. So you want to probably smash green flowers together, because you can only get Tin Pollen out of them, which only lets you make bronze hammers with a junk tesseract.

Flower smashing I believe is completely random, there's no way to guarantee what flower you are going to get as far as I can tell. I believe flowers only matter if you are trying to craft a specific beetle. Otherwise, you can generally just keep smashing them into the next highest tier.

I imagine that beetle type may also not matter when upgrading a beetle to next tier. I need to test, but my understanding is that if you take a Blue Beetle of any type, and you give it the required flower to get an upgraded beetle, then that should be the outcome regardless of if it's a monarch or not. This may be different at Adamantine tier, which may call for specific recipes, but we don't have anyone who has reached that point or been brave enough to try.

There is also still unknown possibilities about hammer type and hammer combinations - does an adamantine hammer have access to more recipes? We also don't know I believe if crafting bonus contributes greatly to any other type of outcome other than crafting bonus = success probability of crafting.

If craft = nothing happens - then that may be a recipe that doesn't exist.

If craft = Smash Failed - then that indicates that the recipe exist, but you failed the craft. Should probably run crafts using Tin Hammers because it is the most cost effective, and then use higher grade hammers once a recipe is confirmed.

Hammers also currently reset on Universal Cheese Time.

Hope this helps anyone out, feel free to correct/add information.

New to me was the hammers resetting with universal basic cheese - i didn‘t check that yet because i always broke them beforehand lmao.

ok i just tried it - hammer does show that it reset to 0 but it DID NOT! My adamantine hammer was at 23% before, showed 0 now and after one smashing attempt it now sits at 26%! So be careful - might be a bug if it was intended to reset to 0% and its not working or the resetting itself is a bug. Just don‘t rely on it for now.

Just tried to smash an adamantine beetol with adamantine pollen - nothing. So a diamond upgrade plant doesn’t exist. You can only smash 2 adamantine beetles together with your best hammer to upgrade to a gold one.

Smashing 2 adamantines doesn’t work as well, should be some other way to upgrade to diamond

I mean “nothing happened”, not failed, means recipe doesn’t exist. It works with the previous tiers, but doesn’t with the final upgrade.

I am fairly certain the last two beetles are fourth key related. Tried to get a key yesterday with adamantine flower + junk cube(s) as well as adamantine flower + junk tesseract(s). Tried everything that came to mind like two adamantine + junk cube/tess and nothing.

Could very well be that there are two more beetles but not released yet - like the fourth spot releasing with the next update or sum

I'm just going to keep claiming and hunting beetles. Seems there's no timeline or any reason to craft earlier. I've made a few hammers so far but that's about it. I'm also intentionally keeping at least one of everything in case they have a future use case.

I like the crafting update, but I also enjoyed the simplicity of just checking in regularly and claiming/hunting beetles. I'm sure the crafting will have some benefit in a future update (Beetle racing? Beetle fighting?) but since there's no urgency, I'm happy to just wait until more data is available regarding crafting.

Makes little sense though for there to be a third artifact.
That would mean there has to be a third mithril beetle as well.
And artifacts up until now are corresponding to beetles that were already in the game pre-craft

Yes i think onno in another message before the rhino was found also said something like it being the last beetle.
Though it would be weird as that would mean both the beetle number and the flower number was wrong
Even if we count cattail as flower there would still be one missing if we go off the number in the og post.
